Our school is located in the township of Heyfield in the eastern Victorian region of Gippsland. The traditional owners are the Indigenous Australians of the Gunaikurnai nation, in our area they are Braiakaulung group.

Our town is well known for its history within the timber industry and for its location as the gateway to Lake Glenmaggie, Licola and the High Country.

Surrounded by farmland, the supportive community of Heyfield has displayed strength and resilience throughout times of floods, droughts, fires and other events.

The RSL, Lions Club, Resource Centre, Wetlands Committee and Heyfield Memorial Hall, to name a few, offer support and services when needed

The town has a beautiful bakery and cafes, restaurants and pubs. You can shop at the main petrol station or at the supermarket and get garden supplies or vehicle repairs. A community bank and post office, op shops and various medical services.

Heyfield has lots to offer and if you can’t find your way, just ask and someone will always be happy to guide you!

Heyfield PS was established in 1871 with an original building, which unfortunately was destroyed by fire in 1906. The current school buildings are a marriage of old and new sites.

As you enter the school grounds, the front gate welcomes you to our Friendship Tree where many students enjoy eating their lunch while chatting to their friends.

The first building is the oldest school building from 1907, rebuilt after the fire. It holds three classrooms, which our current Junior students enjoy learning in.
