What a great week!

This past week…

We elected our 2023 school captains and vice-captains. we tried to give our students an experience close to real elections, and discuss the importance to elect someone who would represent them well, not just a popularity contest. We asked them to keep their vote confidential on the day and place numbers 1-4 on the voting slips. Miss Schmidt even organised voting booth to make it even more real.

Well done to all candidates for showing such great confidence when giving their speech and Congratulations to our new school captains: Francis Scott and Darcy Hanson, and to our new vice-captains: Flynn Mahony and Xavier Stuart.

Our students started a new rotation of activities on Wednesday afternoons. Walking around Heyfield, Lego Masters, Shadow Boxes, Gardening, Fishing and Solar Schools are some of the activities offered.

Today’s photos are of the group learning some Christmas Carols for their performance in December and the grade 6 students having much fun singing and dancing like no one’s watching!

Our students learnt about ‘self-care’ on Thursday and were able to explain that we need four important elements for a healthy lifestyle: Healthy food with vegetables, fruits, proteins and drinking water rather than soda; enough sleep with an average of 10 hours for children; a minimum of 60 minutes exercise every day AND a good balance of all these elements. The Junior classes asked for meditation and you can see they were very engaged and enjoyed it. Other activities included mindfulness colouring in, music, reading and games. Some students drew with chalk outside the library and it looked very colourful.
