What happened this week?

Timber Festival, Parade and Visit to the Mills.

It was so good seeing so many students joining us for the Parade! The Festival was a real success and we will have to think about new things to prepare for next year! I think Bill has already started thinking about it! The trucks were fantastic to see and all activities at the show too, but one of the most exciting things was visiting the mills. I could not believe how big it was! We learnt about the type of wood used and watched the large pieces being cut, glued and packaged. Such a great opportunity for our students to learn even more about the community of Heyfield.

Shrove Tuesday

Miss Schmidt is always thoughtful and resourceful, and on Tuesday, while the grade 3 students were enjoying their time at World of Maths, she made pancakes with the grade 4 students. Then vice versa. It looked delicious and smelt divine!!

Opening Ceremony of the Viewing Platform at the Wetlands

Our school captains represented our school at this special event this week, after receiving an invitation from the Wetlands committee. It was another great opportunity to build those precious links we aim to make with our community. Something even more special was to be present when Barry Donohue received his award and acknowledgement. A very moving moment. Congratulations Barry.

World of Maths Day

Who would have thought we could have fun with maths?! Well, we do! And all our students did too. They experienced some hands-on maths that required them to problem solve and discuss their ideas. It was very inspiring to see all of them work together to work out the tasks.

NAPLAN testing

Our grade 3 and 5 students did a practice test this week so we could check the computers’ readiness and so we could practice logging in! If you do not wish for your child to undertake this national testing, please let us know.
