What happened this week?

Fishing rods

Our grade 6s received a fishing rod, offered from the Department to encourage fishing as an outdoor activity. Mathew has already tried his! Well done!

Pancake Day

We started the week with a special breakfast on Tuesday, with pancakes for everyone!

Thank you to all the helpers. Mrs Merlo was ‘shaking off’ the pancake mix, while singing and dancing, getting ready for last night’s concert!! Did a super job!

I visited some classrooms…

Last week, I walked through some classrooms and learnyt many things:

  • In room 5, I learnt that students could express what they like about themselves and wrote their sentences in beautiful paper chains. Knowing and acknowledging what we like about ourselves is very important to grow self-efficacy and self-confidence. And what better conversation on Valentine’s day that talking about loving yourself!! Well done room 5!

  • In room 4, our preppies were learning to write T and t, practising them on whiteboards. I took the chances to take photos of everyone and what was around the room. This teepee looks so comfy!

  • In room 1, students were writing very creative sentences, practising to make them more engaging for the audience, so their stories hook you up! From the picture story book they read, the sentence “In Milla’s town, where the sun kisses the waves and sand tickles your toes, there is a jetty.” became

    • In the lakeside village, where the waves roll slowly and seagulls are mean, there is a jetty.

    • In Will’s village, where fish jump out of the water and the rocks hurt your feet, there is a big beach.

    • In Nick’s beach village, where the sun shines on water and warms the sand, there is a pier.

and more…. These are just a few examples. Don’t hesitate to ask your child!

Timber Festival

We are ready for the march and Bill did a fantastic job with Ayden and Logan with the truck. Other students helped painting the tools, and each grade drew some pictures related to the Timber Industry.

Thank you to Miss Schmidt for decorating our fence. We do love the Timber Festival!

Wednesday fun!

Wednesday is still one of the best days of the week, with many different activities in the afternoon. This time around, students chose between gardening, mindfulness, picking up rubbish around town, hands-on activities with Bill, going to the town library, playing board games and going to the Laurina Lodge.

This rotation will go for 3 weeks, then students can pick another activity for the last 3 weeks.

HOT HOT Chips

Can we please not send these to school. Some students seem to have bets on who can eat them, and they are VERY hot! We do not allow students to share food, at the best of times, due to allergies. Given that we do not know how tummies may react to these, it would be safer not to send them at all.

Thank you very much.
