What happened this week?
Message from Mr Bartlett
I am so pleased with the number of students enrolled in instrumental music. We have around a quarter of the school playing a musical instrument at Heyfield Primary…😊As usual, it takes a while to establish the groups and to get them ready for a performance.
It’s also great to see the choir growing in numbers every week. I’m happy to announce that our choir will perform at assembly next Friday 8th March our 2024 and our senior guitar group will perform the week after (15th March). I’ll be adding more performances as the term progresses. Thanks again to all of our wonderful staff (and parents) for supporting music at Heyfield Primary.

Wednesday fun!
This week, students kept going with their rotation of activities, but due to the heat, they experienced gardening as an Art project and used sticks to create this piece. Looks nearly like a spider web!
The group who went to the Town Library, prepared a display about the Timber Festival.
Junior School Council Report
Minutes of meeting Wednesday 28th February 2024

Casual Clothes days:
We approved last week the proposal from Parents and Friends to have casual clothes days on the second Fridays on each month, so it does not clash with Aussie of the Month awards.
The first day for casual clothes day is on Friday 8th March and we will have the theme to wear purple to raise awareness to Epilepsy. It will be a gold coin donation.
We will also sell crazy socks to go towards ‘Crazy sock Day’ to raise awareness to Downsyndrome, which is on 21st March. We will wear crazy socks but still in school uniforms.
Swimming Carnival - Heyfield District
Well done to all swimmers who went to Sale yesterday and participated in this carnival, competing against other schools. We came 4th overall! Great effort.
Thank you to Miss Sweet and Bill for driving all students and also to parents who attended and helped there too.
Indonesian Classes
Students, in Indonesian lessons, have been recording each other while reading a script they wrote in this foreign language. They do very well and take great pride in doing this exercise.
Learning a second language is very important, and research shows how important it is for the brain, which develops more reasoning and problem solving skills thanks to this type of learning. Same as Music, Art and even Maths!
Random snaps
A group of students decided to create their own ‘book’ club at lunchtime, and get together sometimes to read their books. Not everyone is about running or playing games, and this is perfect.
The other snaps are of some senior students enjoying their fruit, during ‘fruit break’. They look happy and comfy, ready to get back to do more learning. We have fruit breaks every day so don’t forget to send fruit to school!

Bill is relentless and always trying to keep the yard and school tidy but those silly birds make an absolute mess everywhere, wrecking the trees at the same time.
Anyway, I wanted to acknowledge Bill, who spends so many hours after school has finished, cleaning and repairing things.
You are a gem and we truly appreciate you!
