What happened this week?

Music - Message from Mr Bartlett

A big congratulations to Legends Of The Rhythm who performed at assembly today. Our school enjoyed this group for the second time this year and we look forward to some more performances later in the year.

Next assembly, in two weeks, our guitar and keyboard group will be performing two songs. Parents are more than welcome to attend to support their children.

Artwork

Mrs Merlo may be away but students are still showing a high standard in their artwork and have produced some beautiful Autumn colours with paint.

A few things to celebrate this week…

  • It is wonderful to see so many parents/relatives at assembly. The students love having you all, in attendance and I hope you enjoy celebrating our students’ achievements with us. This week again was a great turn out.

  • Room 4 showed off very proudly their skills in ‘subitising’ at assembly. The art of subitising is recognising the dots on a paper or for them, at the moment, on a 10-frame. This is very important to recall the amount/number without counting the dots, as it will help visualising numbers of all sorts in the future. They are experts at it!!

  • We met Connor, last Tuesday, during our Open Day. We played dominoes in room 4, with Prep/1 students. Connor will join our school, next year, like many other kinder students. Just a reminder enrolment forms need to be handed in by the end of July.

  • At recess, we have had many games happening on the oval, basketball court and play equipments. It is really good to see all our students being friendly and confident enough to mix together when playing, younger and older students. We also had Indi and Makenna showing their musical skills.

  • Finally, the trees have been trimmed! After many requests to the Wellington Shire, it happened last week. This was quite an entertainment for some of our students too.

Wednesdays’ Activities

This rotation will be a little shorter due to being nearly the end of the term. Our students are enjoying playing games or making puzzles with some elderly visitors, going to the Laurina Lodge, colouring, gardening, coding and our younger students are learning to ride too.

Winter Sports Carnival

Our 5/6 students took part in the Winter Sports today at the Gordon St Reserve. Our football team combined with St Michael’s PS students won one of their game. Tee ball players enjoyed having fun playing three friendly games with and against other local schools. Our Soccer team combined with another school too and won enough games to go to the next round! A great day with displays of good sportsmanship all around.
