What happened this week?

Did you know…?

Our school celebrates student achievements in all areas, when we:

  • Showcase samples of work and display them in the corridors and classrooms’ walls.

  • Acknowledge students’ positive engagement and effort in their learning at assembly.

  • Give positive feedback during learning time.

  • Listen to students share stories with us of their successes.

  • Celebrate students’ participation in extra-curricular events.

Enjoy the photos shared in this newsletter that promotes everyone doing their best.

This week in pictures…

I love walking around the school and seeing the learning that takes place.

This week, I stopped by the Art room to see what they were doing, then followed the preps back to their room and saw them do maths. Room 8 was doing maths too, but it was all about angles. I have seen work completed about space, a beautiful diorama from Harper Parsons about the Paris Olympics and an excellent glass stained/painted flowers from Lahni Bellion.

On Wednesday afternoon, everyone started their concert practice! Room 5 is doing something a little different this year and it is looking so good! Mr Fasoli and Ms Wojcinski were very proudly telling me they have it all under control, thanks to Jordyn, our student teacher. Room 7 has chosen one of my favourite songs.

I cannot wait for Thursday 19th September, which is concert day!

Dress-up Day

We had an amazing turn out with great looking dress-ups for our Book week Dress-up Day! So many Wallys and Harry Potters! We had a few dinosaurs too! Staff showed up to the party too, all dressed up and look fantastic!

Australian Record

We did it! We set the record of the greatest number of bookmarks decorated by students. John and Helen Taylor from The Australian Book Of Record (TABOR) presented the certificate to Executive Director from the Department of Education for the area of Outer Gippsland, Alison Clarke and to Councillor Carmel Ripper from Wellington Shire. They both represented all the schools who participated: Nambrok-Denison PS, Araluen PS, Newmerella PS, Loch Sport PS, Stratford PS, Maffra SC and Heyfield PS.

Thank you to everyone involved from start to finish! All staff at Heyfield PS, staff from the participating schools, Robyn Welsh who planted the seed for this idea, Amy Semmens for taking a photo with her drone and my husband who I dragged to help over last weekend! It was a wonderful experience for us all to be part of and we will do even better next year!

The 658 bookmarks were put together to recreate a bookshelf.
